Diabetes Food Exchange List

Being diagnosed with diabetes makes you face a new challenge in life. Diabetes does not mean that you need to give up living a normal and fit life. Living with diabetes means that you have to be under restrictions and you need to be very careful and cautious on what you eat. It is for these reasons that you need to consult a doctor or a nutritionist who will help you selected the right food and make you aware of the Diabetes Food Exchange List.

Developed in 1950 the Diabetic Food Exchange List endeavors to make meal planning easy for diabetics and this is normally recommended by a doctor or a nutritionist. The above list divides food into three main groups and they are carbohydrates, fats and proteins. The objective of the above list is to intake the proper nutrition and maintains the proper share of these main three categories of food. When you are prescribed the above list you will find that the list depends upon a number of factors. These factors are the type of exercise program and the time of the insulin injections that are given to you. The doctor or the nutritionist will determine these before he/she recommends them to you.

The food that has been enlisted in the above list is different from one another and they have specific calories. Keeping in mind the physical condition of the person the calories will be determined and they should also be taken accordingly. The servings and the time will be specified by the doctor and this is the reason why you should consult one before you get into the food exchange list. With the help of this list you will receive the daily intake of nutrition that is recommended to you and also you can live a normal and a healthy life as a diabetic.
