How to stop eating junk food?
Firstly, I’m 15. I’ve never really been overweight until now. Late last year I had two major operations, and I have put on 14 kilos since then. My doctors are investigating diabetes.
Okay, so I exercise regularly (about an hour a day, plus walking to and from school which adds up to about 3 miles). I eat healthily, apart from I seem to have a problem with avoiding junk food. If I do lots of exercise and eat pretty much nothing during the day, this is the only way I can seem to lose weight. But then I quickly crave sugary foods that are going to give me an energy boost, and I can’t seem to avoid these. What tactics do I need to refrain from drinking the soda or eating a chocolate bar for example? Thanks.
I would suggest eating a piece of fruit when the sugar cravings strike. They will satisfy the urge and fill you up longer because fruit takes longer for your body to break down. I would also suggest eating some protein at the same time because it is even slower to digest and keeps your blood sugar up longer, and provides longer-term energy. Some good news: The less you eat sweets, the less you will crave them. They cause your blood sugar to shoot up rapidly, but it also crashes rapidly afterward, leaving you feeling more drained and hungry than ever, and craving more sweets/processed carbs.
